12V battery for EV and hybrid in Amsterdam
In Amsterdam a car stands still more than it drives, and that is exactly what kills batteries: short city trips never fully recharge them. We come to your parking space and replace the battery where the car is.
Many people do not realise a fully electric car also carries an ordinary 12V battery. It powers the locks, the on-board computer, the screens and the ignition — and without it the car will not come to life, no matter how full the traction pack is. An EV with a full battery that stays completely silent almost always has a flat or worn 12V battery.
The 12V battery in an EV or hybrid has a harder life than in a petrol car. It is not charged by an alternator but through a DC-DC converter that only runs while the car is awake, and it feeds an electrical system that keeps working when parked. Service life is therefore often shorter than people expect.
We replace this battery on location. Importantly, we work only on the 12V system, not on the high-voltage pack. Where the manufacturer prescribes a specific procedure to safely de-energise the car, we follow it. We register the new battery wherever the car asks for it.
